What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Manager, Data Center position at Aptum?
The Assistant Manager, Data Center reports directly to the Manager of the Data Centre and assists in all aspects of planning, management, inventory controls and procedural requirements in support of Data Centre operations in accordance with corporate policy.

- Detailed understanding of Telecom service provider Hub, POP, & CPE standards for electronics and Power etc. - NEB’s compliance etc.
- Working knowledge and experience with bridging/switching, TCP/IP inter-networking and routing with OSPF & BGP, understanding of CIDR address allocation is preferred.
- Understanding of ITIL framework.
- Detailed understanding of provisioning processes in a service provider environment.
- Working knowledge of Network Management systems using SNMP like HP Open View, Microsoft Windows & Linux Operating system.
- Understanding of Firewall and load balancing technologies.
- Knowledge of electrical systems designs, and mechanical systems designs, cabling standards.
- Comprehensive background using MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio and scanning, spreadsheet, graphics and database software.
- Assist in the management of our day-to-day operations of our 24/7/365 Data Centre facility.
- Implement standards for Data Center deployment processes, including cabling, racking/stacking, and inventory controls.
- Ensure fully standardized documentation is in place for policies and procedures; MOPS, SOPS and Run books.
- Provide resource staffing and project management for customer deployments, and infrastructure oversight in the Data Center facility.
- Work with the Data Center Manager on planning and forecasting staff structure to account for projected growth of our business.
- Assist with the development and progress tracking of performance objectives for the DC team.
- Assist the Data Centre Manager with the preparation and management of the department budgets and preparation and distribution of monthly metrics and Client reporting.
What you can offer to Aptum Technologies:
- University Degree or 2-year Technical Diploma in Technology or equivalent experience.
- 5-8 years' experience in a technical capacity.
- A minimum of two years’ experience with managing or supervising a team.
- Experience working in the telecom industry is preferred
