Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Geneva SME with expertise in vendor system administration and enterprise application support. The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth deployment, configuration, monitoring, and optimization of vendor applications while managing critical vendor relationships and maintaining system reliability. This role requires strong technical proficiency, hands-on experience in infrastructure, and the ability to provide Level 1 enterprise application support.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor System Administration
- Installation & Setup: Deploy and configure vendor applications in production and test environments.
- System Upgrades & Patching: Execute software upgrades, apply patches, and ensure production stability.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor application/system performance, tune configurations, and implement improvements.
- Security & Access Management: Manage roles, permissions, and enforce security protocols.
- Data Backup & Recovery: Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system configurations, changes, troubleshooting procedures, and operational guidelines.
Vendor Technical Relationship
- Contact Mapping: Maintain a directory of vendor contacts, including technical support and escalation paths.
- Escalation Framework: Document and execute escalation processes aligned with SLAs.
- SLA Monitoring: Track vendor performance against SLAs; report on compliance and deviations.
- Change Coordination: Align vendor-driven changes (patches, upgrades, deprecations) with internal change management processes.
- Postmortem Reviews: Participate in root cause analysis and issue reviews with vendors.
- Roadmap Awareness: Stay up to date with vendor product updates, roadmap, and upcoming features.
Level 1 Enterprise Application Support
- File & Job Monitoring: Monitor broker files, scheduled jobs, and batch processes; troubleshoot delays and failures.
- Operating System Monitoring: Track CPU, memory, and storage utilization.
- Database Monitoring: Basic monitoring of SQL Server databases (queries, space, indexes, reorganizations).
- User Access Management: Handle basic access requests, permission changes, and user inquiries.
Required Skills & Experience
- Geneva Application Experience: Strong knowledge of Geneva system operations and support.
- Terraform Scripting (IaC): Proven experience automating deployments and infrastructure setup.
- Linux Administration: Advanced knowledge of Linux environments, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- AWS: Proficiency in managing and maintaining cloud infrastructure.
- SQL Server: Experience in database administration and query optimization.
- Windows System Administration: Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows servers.
- Security & Backups: Strong understanding of patch management, security controls, and backup strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in enterprise system administration, with significant exposure to Geneva applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle critical production issues.
- Excellent communication and vendor management skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Stamford, CT or Midtown NYC.
