What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Department Physician position at Aptive?
Job Summary
The Emergency Department (ED) Physician will provide high-quality, on-site emergency medical care to veterans at the Charlie Norwood VA Health Care System. The physician will manage a range of emergency conditions in accordance with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) guidelines.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform direct patient care in the ED, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and disposition of patients.
- Conduct initial evaluation and emergent treatment of minor to life-threatening conditions.
- Perform medical procedures such as intubation, central venous line placement, wound repair, and emergency airway management.
- Stabilize and coordinate the transfer of patients requiring a higher level of care.
- Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (NPs/PAs).
- Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions for patients.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical documentation using the VA’s electronic health record system.
- Participate in quality improvement programs and peer reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
- Board Certification in Emergency Medicine.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience working in an emergency department setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Desired Qualifications
- 24/7 emergency department coverage required.
- Day shifts (7 AM - 5 PM, 11 AM - 9 PM), evening shifts (3 PM - 1 AM), and night shifts (10 PM - 8 AM).
- Physicians must be on-site during scheduled shifts and provide timely patient care
