This position supports LAWA’s Airports Development Group (ADG) by managing the intake, processing, distribution, and archiving of project documentation for large-scale capital improvement and construction programs.
Projects typically include multi-million-dollar to billion-dollar airport infrastructure, including terminal modernization, airfield improvements, utilities, facilities upgrades, and construction support services.
The role operates within LAWA’s highly regulated environment, ensuring compliant document management practices using LAWA’s Project Management Information System (PMWeb) and hard-copy archives. Work may occur both in office settings and on active construction sites, requiring coordination with contractors, consultants, and various city agencies.

Depending on assignment, the technician may serve as a lead document controller, train new staff, and support project management teams in organizing workflows and approval processes within PMWeb.

- Manage distribution workflows for correspondence, technical submittals, RFIs, reports, plans, specifications, and related documents.
- Prepare and issue transmittals in PMWeb; locate and retrieve records as needed.
- Maintain accurate project documentation to support audits, records requests, and final closeout.
- Ensure timely processing in accordance with project schedules and deadlines.
- Support development of consistent documentation standards and ensure compliance across project teams.
- Lead document control efforts for assigned projects and provide training to new team members when designated.
- Assist Project Managers, Construction Managers, and team members with document-related needs.
- Support workflow setup, approval routing, and documentation requirements in PMWeb.
- Participate in project meetings as required.
- Prepare documentation for administrative records and final retention packages.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional (required).
- Experience with enterprise Document Control systems preferred; PMWeb and Documentum highly desirable.
- Familiarity with scanning hardware, OCR tools, and standard document control equipment.
- 5–10 years of experience in document processing and data management.
- Experience supporting large construction programs ($25M , airport experience preferred).
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented with a strong customer-service mindset.
- Able to interface with diverse teams of varying technical backgrounds.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to lift/move boxes up to 40 lbs.
- “Can-do” attitude with the ability to produce fast and accurate work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Previous experience working in field construction environments is highly desirable.
- Two-year technical degree required.
- Certifications in document control (e.g., CDIA , CDA, or equivalent) highly desirable.
- Experience at large international airports preferred.
