Accountant - Temporary

april is seeking a temporary Accountant to join our finance team on a contract basis. This is a versatile, hands-on role perfect for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats across various accounting functions. You'll handle day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. We welcome candidates currently pursuing their degree who are eager to learn and gain practical experience. This position will be based at our NYC HQ requiring 3 days in office (Tuesday through Thursday) from January to April 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable: review invoices, code expenses, prepare payments, and maintain vendor relationships
• Manage accounts receivable: generate invoices, track collections, follow up on overdue payments, and reconcile customer accounts
• Handle billing operations: prepare customer invoices, ensure accurate and timely billing cycles, and resolve billing inquiries
• Maintain general ledger: record journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and ensure accurate financial records
• Support month-end close processes and assist with financial reporting as needed
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve accounting issues and answer finance-related questions
• Assist with ad-hoc accounting projects and process improvements
  
  

Experience

• 1–3 years of general accounting experience, or currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with relevant coursework
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing processes (or willingness to learn)
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or in progress)
• Proficiency in accounting software (Campfire, QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or similar) and Excel
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
