Role Description This is a full-time hybrid role for a Respiratory Therapist based in Queens, NY, with a combination of on-site visits and some work-from-home responsibilities. The Respiratory Therapist will assess patients’ respiratory status, review medical histories and prescriptions, and develop appropriate home respiratory care plans. Daily tasks include setting up, instructing on, and troubleshooting respiratory equipment such as oxygen systems, nebulizers, and non-invasive ventilation devices. The role involves performing patient education on equipment use, safety, and disease management, as well as documenting care, maintaining accurate records, and communicating with physicians, nurses, and care coordinators. The Respiratory Therapist will also monitor patient progress, respond to clinical concerns, provide follow-up visits or telehealth check-ins, and support compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in Respiratory Therapy and Respiratory Care, including assessment, treatment planning, and home-based patient education.
- Knowledge of Cardiopulmonary principles and Medicine relevant to respiratory conditions, including oxygen therapy, COPD, asthma, and sleep-disordered breathing.
- Experience or training in Neonatal Intensive Care or pediatric respiratory support is beneficial, especially for serving infants and children requiring specialized care.
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) in New York and applicable national certification (e.g., NBRC) required.
- CPR/BLS certification, a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to travel locally to patient homes in the Queens area.
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfort with electronic medical records and basic digital tools; prior home care or durable medical equipment experience is a plus.
