We’re looking for a skilled, compassionate Developmental Specialist (DS II) to join our team and make a positive impact on children's lives.
Position Summary
We’re seeking an enthusiastic Developmental Specialist (DS) to support our mission to help children achieve their highest potential. The Developmental Specialist II (DS II) working in the Early Intervention (EI) setting will provide services to the child in the FIT program. These duties include completing home visits in the child’s natural environment and working to achieve the developmental age-appropriate milestones. The DS II will support and communicate strategies to the families to achieve the desired outcomes.
Work Requirements
- Provides the services and strategies to meet the child’s outcomes and developmental goals as recorded in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
- Works with parents and other service providers, developing and implementing strategies to help build the child’s skills.
- Attends the Transdisciplinary Team Consultation Meetings (TTCM) with the other team members providing services to the child.
- Provides quality documentation to the EI billing department, according to the FIT program guidelines.
- Completes required training to ensure the certification guidelines are met.
- Continuing to take courses required to recertify the DS certificate according to the NM FIT guidelines.
- Provides direct services to eligible children based on the outcomes and goals listed on the IFSP.
- Conducts or participates in screening, assessment, and comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluations with appropriate academic and in-service training in instruments and methodologies.
- Attends the 6-month review and annual IFSP meeting conducted by the FSC for the child with the other team members and the family.
- Completes the Daily Note for every scheduled session each week.
- Completes and submits the Delivered Service Log with the Daily Notes attached for each week’s services, meeting the billing department deadlines.
- Completes the AIT benchmark required for the position.
- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the disciplines approved by the New Mexico Family Infant Toddler (FIT) program guidelines.
- Obtain a New Mexico FIT program certificate.
- Work experience with children is a plus.
- Completion of NM FIT program DS coursework enabling billing in the EI program.
- Bilingual skills English/Spanish are required.
- Ability to work in a changing environment gathering relevant information to integrate a change or modify a program for the family.
- Ability to use decision making skills that objectively and fairly evaluate a situation ensuring an ethical decision is made that balances the needs of the child, and the needs of the company.
- A car in good working order, a valid driver’s license, and appropriate auto insurance are required to complete home and community visits in the EI program.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds (e.g., boxes, equipment) without assistance. Capability to stand and walk for extended periods, including moving around the workspace, performing tasks, and interacting with colleagues or customers. Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel to access various items, equipment, or workspaces as required. Aptitude to reach overhead, horizontally, and below waist level to retrieve and handle objects or materials. Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks continuously throughout the workday. Physical ability to move freely and quickly in various work environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, or uneven terrain if necessary. If the job involves driving, a valid driver's license, and the ability to operate vehicles safely and responsibly may be required.
