Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a position for an Interoperability Test Engineer within the aerospace defense sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to mission-critical systems that support national security and defense operations.
Location: Scottsdale, AZ — This position can be fully remote, hybrid, or on-site, with on-site work involving collaboration with the SDA team in Scottsdale.
Position: Interoperability Test Engineer
Contract Length: 12-24 months with possibility of going direct
Pay: $62.16 per hour
Schedule: First Shift
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field; 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 months of experience
Clearance Requirement: U.S. citizenship and Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance at the time of hire
In this role, you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:
- Support interoperability testing and validation for the SDA / Space Force mission environment
- Perform software testing, systems integration testing, troubleshooting, and defect isolation
- Validate network routing, communications pathways, signal processing, and end-to-end system performance
- Develop and enhance test automation, process automation, tooling, and validation frameworks
- Support hardware/software integration and interoperability across distributed defense systems
- Perform Linux-based test execution, scripting, log review, and systems troubleshooting
- Use Python for automation, scripting, test harness development, and data analysis
- Partner with systems, network, software, and test teams to ensure operational readiness
- Provide technical leadership and support activities with limited oversight
- Apply systems engineering principles to complex interoperability and mission test scenarios
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, software test processes, and systems engineering principles
- Experience with network routing, network analysis, signal processing, and communications validation
- Hands-on experience in system testing, interoperability testing, and troubleshooting
- Strong background in test automation, process automation, and custom tooling
- Experience with hardware/software integration and distributed system validation
- Working knowledge of Linux environments, shell tools, and troubleshooting workflows
- Python experience for automation, scripting, test harnesses, or tooling development
- Ability to perform technical activities with limited oversight
- Comfortable providing technical leadership in cross-functional engineering teams
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across software, systems, and network teams
- Experience supporting Space Force, SDA, satcom, or defense communications programs is highly valuable
