Location: Manchester, NH 03103
Position: Medical Authorization Rep
Pay Rate: $20.50/hr
Duration: 13 weeks
Expected Shift: 40 hrs/week
8:00A-5:00P Mon-Fri
JOB SUMMARY
On-site interview required
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required with medical billing courses and computer proficiency
Experience Requirements and Preferences:
Two (2) years of experience in a medical billing office or experience with third-party payers required.
Marketing and/or customer services skills preferred.
Required and Preferred Skills:
1.Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and/or written word. Primary functions include activities in which incumbent must convey detailed or important spoken and/or written instructions to clinical staff, patients, physicians, families, and other employees accurately, loudly or quietly.
2. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discrimination in sound.
3. Visual acuity sufficient for work which deals largely with preparing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal operation, extensive reading and visual inspection involving small parts/devices.
4. Ability to endure periods of heavy workload and stress.
5. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
6. Ability to perform job along following standard practices for routine procedures. Questions or problems are referred to manager.
7. Ability to communicate effectively and establish a cooperative, collaborative working environment.
8. Ability to accept constructive feedback and initiate appropriate actions to correct situations.
9. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, physicians, patients, families and the public.
10. If applicable, ability to advance basic computer skills as the health system adds new systems or performs upgrades to existing systems.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
1. Obtains insurance verification and prior authorization from payors in the auth cert work que.
2. Obtains all required payer and billing information for Medicaid, Medicare, and other commercial insurances and documents in the EPIC auth cert record.
3. Seeks direction and guidance from Home Care Coordinators for all clinical issues.
4. Provides superior customer service when working with internal and external customers.
5. Serves as a resource to staff, hospital personnel and other customers regarding reimbursement and regulatory requirements specific to VNA.
6. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with employees, referral sources, and the community.
7. Ensures confidentiality of employee, legal, client/patient, budget, and all EHS/VNA matters.
8. Initiates and seeks participation in department quality improvement activities.
9. Re-verifies Medicaid/HCBC eligibility on a monthly basis as needed.
10. Receives and processes referrals from physician's offices, hospitals, and rehab facilities.
11. Performs general office tasks including, but not limited to, running reports and creating spreadsheets.
12. Maintains workload at the established productivity standard for the assigned area.
13. Attends staff and department meetings. Also participates on committees.
14. Participates in appropriate role in EHS/VNA fire and disaster drills, fires, and other situations.
15. Performs similar or related duties as assigned or directed.
