Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a position for an Advanced Engineering Technician in Scottsdale, AZ, supporting high-technology aerospace defense projects. This contract role offers a pay rate of $33.44 per hour, with an expected duration of 12-24 months, with the possibility of going direct. The position is on a 2nd shift schedule and requires a Department of Defense SECRET security clearance. The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree in a related discipline and at least 3 years of relevant experience. The role offers hybrid/remote options, providing flexibility for the right candidate.
In this role you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:
- Support engineering activities including design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems
- Work hands-on with experimental circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, and specialized test equipment
- Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, schematics, and technical build documentation
- Construct, modify, debug, troubleshoot, calibrate, test, and adjust a wide variety of tools, equipment, and systems
- Conduct, analyze, and document statistically based experiments to establish or refine process parameters
- Implement and document complex solutions that improve engineering and manufacturing workflows
- Design and construct basic tooling, fixtures, and support hardware to accomplish unique technical tasks
- Organize, analyze, and interpret technical data to identify cause-and-effect relationships
- Recommend corrective actions and continuous process improvement opportunities
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations Support, manufacturing, and cross-functional technical teams
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required, plus a minimum of 3 years of engineering technician, prototype, hardware lab, or manufacturing support experience.
Clearance Requirements:
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire.
- Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities:
- Strong mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical aptitude
- Solid knowledge and proficiency using fabrication tools, hand tools, lab support equipment, and engineering test systems
- Ability to fabricate, assemble, modify, and validate complex hardware and prototype systems
- Working knowledge of accepted engineering principles and technical theory
- Experience supporting prototype builds, hardware labs, engineering development, testing, or manufacturing support
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and disciplined documentation practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in secure defense engineering environments
- Ability to support 2nd shift operations in a fully onsite classified lab/manufacturing setting
