Duties
- Perform venipuncture (blood sampling) and capillary draws with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols
- Collect, process, and handle laboratory specimens accurately, ensuring proper labeling and storage for analysis
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to assess patient health status
- Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns, and maintaining a compassionate approach
- Maintain detailed records of examinations, specimen collection data, and patient interactions using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Follow laboratory procedures and techniques to ensure specimen integrity and compliance with health standards
- Assist with patient service activities across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics, demonstrating physiology knowledge and clinical laboratory experience
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical laboratory work or clinical laboratory settings with knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques
- Certification or training in phlebotomy (blood collection), CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and specimen handling protocols
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to transport supplies or specimens safely
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages
- Familiarity with hospital environments or healthcare settings is preferred
- Proficiency in data entry and managing EMR/EHR systems for accurate record keeping
