Hazardous Waste Program Specialist

Approved Storage & Waste Hauling
Mount Vernon, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 10/4/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/1/2027

Company Overview

Approved Storage & Waste Hauling is one of the fastest-growing medical and hazardous waste management companies in the Northeast. We provide comprehensive waste management solutions to hospitals, healthcare systems, laboratories, and research facilities throughout the region. Approved Storage & Waste Hauling has established itself as a leading independent provider of Medical Waste Management services since 1996. Committed to innovation, environmental responsibility, and community support, we prioritize creating growth opportunities for our employees and delivering exceptional value and service to our healthcare partners.

Job Overview

Approved Storage & Waste Hauling is seeking a highly motivated, technical, and compliance-focused Hazardous Waste Program Specialist to support hazardous, pharmaceutical, chemical, laboratory, and regulated medical waste programs throughout hospitals, healthcare networks, laboratories, and industrial facilities across the Northeast.

This is a hands-on field position that requires daily travel to customer locations (NY, CT and NJ) to perform waste characterization, collection, packaging, compliance inspections, program implementation, training, and other environmental services activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of hazardous waste fundamentals and be comfortable working in healthcare and industrial environments while ensuring strict compliance with environmental, transportation, and workplace safety regulations.

Candidates should possess either prior hazardous waste industry experience or an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field. Applicants must have a working knowledge of hazardous waste concepts, including waste identification, segregation, labeling, container management, and regulatory compliance. Experience with RCRA, DOT, laboratory chemicals, pharmaceutical waste, universal waste, or healthcare waste streams is strongly preferred.

While we are willing to train the right candidate on our specific operational procedures, customer programs, software systems, and healthcare waste management processes, this is not an entry-level environmental position. Successful candidates should already have a foundational understanding of hazardous waste management principles and demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

The Hazardous Waste Program Specialist will serve as a trusted resource to our customers, helping ensure safe, compliant, and efficient waste management practices while supporting the continued growth of one of the fastest-growing medical and hazardous waste companies in the Northeast.
