Site Safety Manager - Construction

Location: South Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties)

Client Industry: Commercial Construction

About My Client

My client is a leading, award-winning general contractor renowned for building large-scale, complex projects that define communities. Their portfolio includes iconic high-rise, commercial, and hospitality structures. Their commitment to safety is the cornerstone of their operations, and they are dedicated to maintaining a zero-incident culture.

They are currently seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Site Safety Manager to join their team and champion this commitment on-site. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable, growing company with exceptionally low turnover, where you will be empowered to manage safety programs on some of South Florida's most high-profile construction projects.

Position Summary

The Site Safety Manager is responsible for the implementation, administration, and oversight of the site-specific safety program. This role involves daily site inspections, subcontractor coordination, incident investigation, and proactive training to ensure all personnel comply with company policies and federal/state OSHA regulations. You will be the primary on-site authority for all safety matters, fostering a culture where every individual takes ownership of their safety and the safety of those around them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and enforce the site-specific safety plan and all company safety policies.
  • Conduct daily safety audits and inspections to identify and correct potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliant behaviors.
  • Lead safety orientation for all new employees, visitors, and subcontractor personnel.
  • Facilitate regular safety meetings, including daily "toolbox talks" and weekly all-hands safety discussions.
  • Ensure all operations comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations (OSHA).
  • Investigate, document, and report all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractor leadership to integrate safety planning into all phases of construction.
  • Maintain all site-specific safety documentation, including inspection logs, training records, and incident reports.
  • Qualifications and Experience

    • 3-4 years of dedicated construction safety experience.
    • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
    • Essential Requirement: Must have verifiable project experience on large-scale vertical construction projects, such as commercial, hospitality, multi-family, or high-rise structures.
    • Experience from sectors like energy (e.g., substations) will not be considered relevant for this position.
    • Strong, in-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations for the construction industry.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 500, 510) are highly preferred.
    • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build consensus with field staff and subcontractors.
    • Stable work history and a team-oriented mindset.
  • What My Client Offers

    • A highly competitive base salary (in the $110k - $120k range, DOE).
