APPRISE is a nonprofit research institute dedicated to collecting and analyzing data and information to assess and improve public programs. APPRISE’s research focuses on programs that provide energy bill payment assistance, energy education, and energy efficiency services to low-income households; and programs that provide incentives for undertaking energy efficiency projects to residential, commercial, and industrial utility customers. APPRISE conducts a wide variety of research activities to provide program administrators and stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of program design, operations, and impact. This research leads to informed recommendations for program improvement.
Policy Analyst Job Opening
APPRISE has a position available for a Policy Analyst to conduct research on energy efficiency and energy assistance programs. This position requires full-time in-person work at our office in Princeton, New Jersey.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of a policy analyst is to work independently to specify and complete tasks on energy research and evaluation projects. With guidance from and review by the project director, a policy analyst may perform the following tasks.
- Literature Review
- In-Depth Interviews
- Data Analysis
- Report Writing
Skills and Competencies
A policy analyst is expected to have a range of skills that enable her/him to understand complex policy issues, develop specifications for research that will address policy issues, develop information on research topics, and prepare memos or reports that describe the findings from policy research. The following skills and competencies are relevant to the position.
- The ability to understand a complex policy issue.
- The ability to communicate clearly and concisely regarding research procedures.
- The ability to conduct interviews and observations according to protocols.
- Oral and written proficiency in English.
Education Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree
Preferred Experience & Education:
- Experience with survey research and statistical analysis
- An interest in social programs and public policy
- Familiarity with data analysis software and/or database software

Salary: $60,000 per year salaried
