We are seeking a passionate facilitator of learning, who enjoys teaching in a student centered, inquiry based learning environment. Our teachers plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences and supports for students of all abilities. This position teaches a possible caseload of Portuguese courses and potential Spanish. POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the rules and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: PRIMARY is a LOVE of teaching and learning, believing every child can learn, be collaborative, bring joy and kindness to school each day. 1.Responsible for planning curriculum. 2.Responsible for delivering high quality instruction and feedback and grading to students. 3.Responsible for collaborating with special education teachers to differentiate curriculum and instruction. 4.Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum content. 5.Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction. 6.Responsible for mentoring students’ understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate. 7.Responsible for effective management of the classroom environment. 8.Responsible for effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques. 9.Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn. 10.Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement. 11.Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student earning, including, for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, and\or English language learners. 12.Responsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individual regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, gender identity, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or homelessness 13.Performance of other job-related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. BA Degree - in language related field 2. Portuguese language proficiency or experience, Spanish language proficiency and instruction will be considered. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. BA Degree - in Portuguese and/or Spanish 2. SEI endorsement 3. Certification in Massachusetts DESE license in Portuguese 8-12 4. Teaching experience in the area of Portuguese 5. Candidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years). Candidates will need to apply for and pay for the DESE license as a condition of employment. REPORTS TO: School Principal SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Educators’ Association contract. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.
