What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Assistant position at Appomattox Middle School?
Goal: Provide on-site support for technology to teachers, staff, and students of your building. Your knowledge of various software applications will aid in your ability to perform your job.
Part of Technology team
- Participation in training as needed by the Technology department.
- Attend weekly meetings.
- Coordinate the school technology team and guide them through the yearly process of creating or updating the school technology plan for the next year. Funds will be allocated depending on these plans.
- Help in one to one implementations if your school is participating.
Technology Troubleshooting (being ready to “drop and go” as needs arise):
- Maintaining computer labs so they are welcoming and in order for classrooms
- Monitoring headphones/keyboards, and checking for maintenance concerns
- Keeping track of inventory in schools.
- Solving problems related to but not limited to:
- Websites not loading/working
- Logins not working (network and other applications)
- Peripheral Support
- Network connections
- Work Orders:
- Check work order system daily.
- Redirect any work orders to division technician
Yearly/Semester work
- Create or upload users for multiple applications
- Assist division technicians with computer setup for SOL testing. (This position is not a proctor for SOL testing unless there is no other alternative)
Weekly Updates
- Report work order/Issues at weekly meetings
- Update Active Bulletin Boards/Digital Marques/Web Pages
School Related Responsibilities
- Take pictures at events. When it does not conflict with assisting teachers/staff/students.
- Principal may assign additional tasks that will not interfere with being available for teacher assistance.
This position will be a paraprofessional position; however, responsibilities such as lunch duty, common planning, and classroom coverage during the instructional day may be required. Supervisory duties during student arrival and dismissal may still be assigned. These duties may not conflict with teacher support.
This position requires an ability to self-initiate, self-monitor, and maintain a calm presence when stressors arise with technology in the classroom and a willingness to learn.
Salary : $14 - $21
