About the Role
Technology is foundational to all of Appnovation’s offerings, from consulting to digital innovation, to digital product and service creation. Inherent throughout our tech capabilities is deep expertise in the Software Development Life Cycle, a drive for creativity, a passion for the craft, and collaboration with other disciplines - all foundational ingredients in successful digital experiences and client partnerships.As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will join a highly motivated and experienced team, building web and mobile applications as well as providing strategy consulting for Appnovation’s clients. We are looking for people who can bring a strong, consulting and solution focused mindset and contribute to architectural decisions, best practices and get things done.

Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, or equivalent
- 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering, web and/or mobile development experience.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript for backend development.
- Expert knowledge of AWS Serverless architecture, specifically AWS SAM & AWS Lambda.
- Experience with Amazon Cognito for user authentication and management.
- Experience with Amazon SNS for messaging services.
- Strong experience with RDBMS, specifically PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful API endpoints to support mobile applications.
- Specific experience integrating with the WhatsApp Business API
- Proven ability to create and manage Webhooks for handling real-time data and third-party communications.
- Experience with unit testing and TDD
- Strong understanding and experience with DevOps principles, processes and tools (eg. Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Travis CI)
- Experience with Cloud Computing and Serverless Architecture, preferably AWS.
- Understanding of agile principles and methodologies.
Nice to Have
- Understanding of Frontend technologies, specifically React Native and Expo, to better collaborate with mobile developers.
- Experience with React, Angular, Express, Node
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for serverless deployments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Previous experience in a consulting environment.
