Position Overview
We're looking for an Associate Product Manager to join our Data Platforms team, focusing on defining and evolving our dashboard and insights offerings. In this key role, you'll work at the intersection of data and user experience, creating intuitive ways for customers and internal teams to understand and act on their data. You'll gain experience across the entire product lifecycle. You'll partner with various teams to understand customer needs, define product requirements, and bring successful products to life. While receiving guidance from senior colleagues, you'll actively solve problems, build strong relationships within your team, and collaborate across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Define requirements and specifications for dashboard features and insight components across our data platform
- Work closely with data engineering teams to understand data architecture and its impact on dashboard capabilities
- Assists with market research to identify customer needs
- Assists in compiling and summarizing user feedback into comprehensive reports.
- May participate in user feedback sessions to gain direct insights.
- Develops understanding of the product strategy with support of higher-level Product Managers and/or direct Manager
- Align product backlog and sprints with the overarching product roadmap.
- Create and define user stories for specific product feature(s)
- Prioritize and manage the product backlog to ensure efficient workflow
- Provide insights on test cases and user acceptance testing results
- Assist in evaluating the severity and impact of product defects.
- Communicate the value of individual features to the go-to-market team
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, User Experience, and Customer Experience teams to ensure product alignment
- Participate in product development ceremonies such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
We’re Excited to Learn More About You
Your experience may include:
- 0 years product management or engineering OR 2 years transferrable experience (non-PM/Eng.)
- Knowledge of SQL and data querying languages
- Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.)
- Basic understanding of product management principles, methodologies, and life cycle
- Basic understanding of the user or customer and their needs
- Ability to write simple user stories that accurately depict customer value, facilitating translation into Engineering tasks.
- Ability to effectively contribute in product management ceremonies, including stand-up, refinement, and planning
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (MBA a plus)
You may have other skills or credentials, including:
- Experience with JIRA or similar tools.
- Insurance industry exposure a plus but not required
