The Applied Policy and Economics Simulation ("APES") Lab is a nonprofit research organization specializing in the use of multi-agent simulations to model intricate economic and policy systems. Our work empowers policymakers, researchers, and institutions to assess and understand possible future scenarios before they become reality. By leveraging advanced modeling techniques, we provide critical insights to support evidence-based decision-making. The APES Lab is dedicated to improving understanding and crafting innovative solutions for complex real-world challenges.


Role Description

This is a 3 month remote internship role for a Software Engineer. The Software Engineer Intern will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software tools and solutions. Key tasks include back-end web development, software development with a focus on object-oriented programming, and collaboration with the team to optimize existing systems and models. Additionally, the intern will support the creation of simulations to help analyze and predict economic and policy scenarios.


Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Computer Science and Programming
  • Experience or knowledge of Back-End Web Development and Software Development
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
  • Pursuing or holding a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from a top university



Compensation

  • $75/hour
  • Eligible for college credit
