Position Description:The CNC mill/turn machinist plays a critical role in Applied Medical’s manufacturing operations by setting up and operating advanced CNC mill/turn equipment used to produce high-precision medical device components. This position supports production schedules, quality objectives, and regulatory compliance while collaborating closely with engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams. The role contributes directly to Applied Medical’s ability to deliver reliable surgical technologies through precision machining, production support, and adherence to regulated manufacturing standards.
- Set up and operate CNC mill/turn machines according to engineering drawings, machining instructions, and production requirements.
- Change cutting tools and adjust machine offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and tight tolerances.
- Interpret blueprint dimensions and geometric tolerances to ensure parts meet design specifications.
- Follow machining instructions, quality system regulations, International Organization for Standardization standards, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Maintain quality standards by inspecting parts using precision measuring tools and documenting results as required.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality control, and production teams to support efficient workflows and resolve machining issues.
- Meet production schedules while maintaining consistent quality, safety, and compliance expectations.
- Produce high-quality CNC machined components that consistently meet blueprint specifications and tolerance requirements.
- Maintain compliance with quality system regulations and standard operating procedures in a regulated medical device environment.
- Support production schedules through effective machine setup, operation, and problem resolution.
- Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional manufacturing and engineering teams.
- Demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and attention to detail across short-run and production machining activities.
- Demonstrate a minimum of five years of experience in the setup and operation of CNC mill/turn machines.
- Apply experience interpreting blueprint dimensions and using precision measuring tools.
- Maintain working knowledge of machining instructions, quality system regulations, International Organization for Standardization standards, standard operating procedures, work rules, and safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively by reading, writing, and speaking in English.
- Collaborate effectively through strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Apply hands-on experience with Mori Seiki and Willemin mill turn machines.
- Bring prior experience in medical device manufacturing or other regulated manufacturing environments.
