OVERVIEW

The Level 2 Post Release Services (PRS) Case Manager will provide Post Release Services for Unaccompanied Children (UC) and their sponsors. This position will report to the PRS Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate post placement services and comprehensive case management for UC;
  • Carry a case minimum caseload of 20 PRS cases with services provided virtually and in person;
  • Ongoing contact with the released child and sponsor should be determined by the level of need and support required, in consultation with the released child and sponsor. After the first in-home visit, PRS case managers must make monthly visits for six (6) months. Monthly visits may occur in-person or, if there are no safety concerns, virtually. At minimum, in-person contact in sponsor’s home must be established every 90 calendar days.
  • Complete individualized needs assessments with UC and sponsor, and develop case plans with particular attention to culture, language, and special circumstances;
  • Provide ongoing case management services to children and families based on their assessed needs.
  • Maintain a high standard of record-keeping according to AI and ORR policies and procedures.
  • Provide information, education, referrals, outreach, advocacy, and support to ensure that each child receives the services they require;
  • Assess the safety and appropriateness of the placement on an ongoing basis using child welfare principles and social work best practices through phone/video calls, interviews, and home visits;
  • Coordinate and maintain communication with key stakeholders;
  • Participate in regular training and communication sessions with supervisor and headquarters staff; and
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, a behavioral science, or social services field with a minimum of three years’ progressive experience in the field of social services, case management, child welfare;
  • Experience in child welfare, child placements, family preservation and social service provision is desired;
  • Must be skilled at writing professional, thorough assessment reports;
  • Extensive knowledge of immigrant community local resources is desired;
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment;
  • Must have a valid driver's license, insurance, and a clean driving record;
  • Position requires up to 50 percent long distance travel with limited notice;
  • Position is remote and the candidate must have an appropriate workspace to complete documentation, client phone calls, and video conferencing;
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred; proficiency in additional languages a plus. Use of a language line is available. Sponsor or Child may not be used as an interpretor.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to comply with mandatory state reporting requirement for child abuse and neglect;
  • Candidate must pass a criminal background check that includes past history of conviction of child and sexual abuse;
  • Possess or be able to obtain CPR and basic first aid certification; and
  • Demonstrated support of AI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfactory completion of AI’s Orientation and Training;
  • Satisfactory completion of ORR required trainings prior to serving clients;
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands;
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; and
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
