What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool Setter position at Applied Aerospace & Defense?
FUNCTION:
Responsible for securing, preparing and pre-setting a variety of tooling packages for machining operations.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Work with tooling setup sheets.
- Use standard tools and gauges to check and set tools.
- Inspect tools for sharpness at completion of operation.
- Route applicable tooling to cutter grind, orders replacement, or return to crib location as required.
- Maintain tooling records and inventory.
- Performs crib attendant duties as required.
- Will apply shop-related experience, with knowledge of machining practices, shop mathematics, and cutting tool geometry and applications.
- Must be able to set tools with some supervision.
- Refer difficulties to leader or supervisor as appropriate.
- Actively participate in various aspects of Continuous Improvement projects, which may include but is not limited to 5S, TPM, kaizen events, and set-up reduction events that align with the commitment to continuous improvement activities in Article II of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Must work safely at all times. Identify, recommend, and participate in opportunities to improve environmental health and safety practices throughout the shop.
