Position Title: Music Consultant
Qualifications:
Music Education certification. (Endorsement 1200)
Position Summary: The successful candidate for Birch Behavioral school will ensure inclusive learning opportunities that enable students to access teaching material. The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, that encourage positive social interaction and active engagement in learning. The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline taught and creates learning experiences that are meaningful to students. PLC availability is part of this consultation model.
Responsibilities of the Position:
Qualifications:
Music Education certification. (Endorsement 1200)
- Bachelors’ degree in teaching music or similar
- NH State certification as a music teacher
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels (K-6)
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.

Responsibilities of the Position:
- On site visitation required- 2x monthly minimum.
- Provides materials and curriculum that are engaging and age appropriate for students (K-6).
- In person consultation on-site minimum 2x per month- required.
- Regular and predictable attendance and presence at respective center is an essential requirement of position.
- Provides learning experiences in the area of music guided by the NH state curriculum guidelines and district standards and requirements, while creating an environment that is conducive to a student’s learning and involvement.
- Passion for teaching of musical concepts, materials, and instruments.
- Encourage the growth of the student’s enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences including but not limited to singing, moving with music, playing of instruments, and listening.
- Develops and administers music education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of students musical learning and progress and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs.
- Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, as appropriate.
- Selects and requisitions appropriate music supplies and instrumental equipment, maintains inventory records, and ensures equipment is in good working order.
- Other duties as directed.
