Job Title: Research Assistant I

Department: Operations

Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time or Part-Time, Onsite

SUMMARY

The Research Assistant I is responsible for researching, retrieving, compiling, posting, and reporting information to satisfy background checking requests from Clients.

On-the-job training is provided. Training takes 30-90 days.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Satisfies requests received by e-mail, facsimile, mail, or telephone from Clients for information about employment applicants, as specified according to Company procedures.

· Enters all information into custom code software system to document and report progress of requested information.

· Transmits information to Client, reads information to client over telephone, or generates printout for forwarding to Client via facsimile or mail.

· Collects, inputs, and reviews pre-employment background investigation data into custom code software application.

· Uses all available and appropriate resources, as well as researching and developing possible additional verification sources and methods.

· Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the primary functions of the job.

· Works under some supervision.

· Audits data for accuracy and comprehensiveness.

· Maintains excellent customer relations and professional representation of the Company.

· Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.

· Learns and performs county court research at the local Hamilton County Courthouse, which elevates the position to Research Assistant II.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not require any supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

· High School Diploma (or GED).

· General office experience – minimum two years.

· Attention to detail.

· Knowledge of basic computer and telephone operations.

· Proficiency in the usage of English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

· Ability to perform duties without immediate and constant supervision.

· Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers and the general public.

· Ability to type at a speed of 25wpm.

· Prior training and experience in office software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, or database).

PREFERRED:

· Some college or technical training certification.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

· Verbal and written communication skills must be professional and of the highest caliber.

· Perfection in both forms of communication are essential, as this position provides reports to Clients and represents this Company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

· A basic understanding of mathematical equations is necessary to perform certain functions of this position.

· Skills in the proficient use of a ten-key calculator.

REASONING ABILITY

Although the Operations Manager is responsible for making decisions of greater magnitude, this position will have the autonomy and authority to make decisions of some importance to the Company within the scope of authority. As a result, the ability to analyze situations, examine options and consequences, and be held accountable for this decision-making process is critical to the overall operation.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

REQUIRED:

· Valid Driver’s License.

PREFERRED:

· Any type of human resource certification or training.

· Private Investigator license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

· Normal range of motion to fulfill job duties, as described above.

· Some occasional lifting, up to twenty (20) pounds.

· Sitting and working on a computer for up to two (2) hours at a time.

· Climbing stairs occasionally throughout the day.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

· This position is 100% onsite.

· Controlled temperatures within a two-story building.

· No smoking within the building.

· Small kitchen with no break room on main floor.

· Bathrooms provided on both floors.

COMPENSATION

· Starting Hourly Rate = $16.00, until fully trained; $17.00 within first 90 days.

· Non-Exempt, Full-Time or Part-Time = minimum 20 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime.

· Insurance (for Full-Time employee): Medical, Dental, Vision – Company pays 50% of premium.

· Paid Time Off – Bi-Weekly Accrual (for Full-Time employee):

o After first 90 days = 3 days

o After 1 year = 12 days

o After 3 years = 17 days

o After 7 years = 22 days

o After 10 years = 27 days

· Paid Holidays (for Full-Time employee)

o New Year’s Day (January 1);

o Good Friday (Friday before Easter);

o Memorial Day (last Monday in May);

o Independence Day (July 4);

o Labor Day (first Monday in September);

o Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday in November) and the following Friday; and

o Christmas (December 25) with possibility of day before or day after.

· Wellness Day (for Full-Time employee) = 1 day per quarter.

· Gas Allowance (for Full-Time employee): $30 per month, on Company credit card.

· Opportunities to increase pay with advancement to Research Assistant II and Research Assistant III.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
