This role is a unique opportunity to support classrooms within the St. Louis Pre-K Cooperative with professional development and instructional coaching and is seeking a part-time, contract coach to support this work. Contract Instructional Coaches are integral in supporting and coaching school leaders and teachers in effective teaching practices that improve teacher practice, classroom quality, and student achievement data.

This position requires travel between sites as needed by the network. Contract Instructional Coaches report to the Senior Director of Research and Innovation. This is a non-supervisory, contract role. Hours per week will depend on the coaching load.

Scope of Work

Supports implementation of high-quality instructional practices across partners

• Collaborate with educators to develop, refine, and implement effective instructional strategies aligned with early childhood standards and best practices.
• Implement the Every Child Ready professional learning program in assigned schools, which includes support for the classroom environment and teacher-child interactions.
• Implement Every Child Ready in-class coaching protocols.
• Use data to systematically support the high-quality implementation of teaching practices.
• Collaborate and support instructional leaders to ensure that teachers effectively plan instruction using a variety of data sources.
• Provide support through modeling, observing, providing feedback, co-planning, and supporting teacher reflection.

Supports Planning, Documentation, and Communication of the Every Child Ready Instructional Model

• Participate in the planning activities with all partner classrooms.
• Work closely with other AppleTree staff to write customized coaching plans for each partner site.
• Use appropriate forms and multimedia tools to document coaching activities and in-classroom support experiences.
• Plan and communicate a monthly schedule to stakeholders.

Collects, Analyzes, and Communicates Data to Drive Instruction, Program Evaluation, and Program Improvement

• Systematically collects, analyzes, and communicates student and teacher classroom data, including in-person and video observations.
• Perform classroom quality observations across campuses and adhere to a rigorous data collection schedule .
• Meet regularly with assigned school leaders to communicate classroom quality, student data, and upcoming activities
• Maintain Classroom Assessment Scoring System - Pre-kindergarten (CLASS-PK) observer certification (AppleTree will provide training as needed).

Required Skills

• Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree strongly preferred) in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field
• Demonstrated ability to develop positive, effective, and mutually beneficial relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
• Two to three years of experience coaching or facilitating learning for adults is required, including classroom-based instructional coaching.
• Three years of successful professional teaching experience are required, and five years are preferred.
• Technological proficiency in GSuite, Canvas, Microsoft Office, and/or willingness to learn new technology platforms as required.
• Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to multiple sites in the St. Louis area.

Compensation

This is not a full time position. Contractors will work between 20-25 hours per week, depending on the number of classrooms. Compensation is $40-$45 /hour.
