Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety standards.
- Record vital signs and medical history, update medical records accurately using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and confirming upcoming visits.
- Provide patient education on oral health care, post-operative instructions, and explain procedures using appropriate dental terminology.
- Maintain dental equipment functionality, including sterilization of tools and proper handling of medical imaging devices.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as coding procedures for insurance claims and managing medical documentation related to pediatrics or specialized treatments like prosthodontics or endodontics.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is preferred, especially with general dentistry or surgical dentistry practices.
- You will be working with a periodontist and will need to assist for surgeries
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques is essential.
- Experience with X-ray procedures, 3D scanners, and vital signs measurement is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and medical coding practices enhances effectiveness in this role.
- Previous roles involving chairside assisting or dental assisting certifications are beneficial but not mandatory for highly motivated candidates eager to learn.
