Information & Referral Specialist
About the Role: We're seeking a compassionate and skilled Information & Referral Specialist to serve as a vital connection between community members and essential resources. In this role, you'll use active listening and problem-solving skills to assess needs, provide appropriate referrals, and offer crisis support to individuals seeking assistance. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a direct impact in people's lives during their most challenging moments.
- Position type: temp to perm
- Schedule: 10am-7pm
- Location: hybrid role, must live in Jacksonville FL area
- Compensation: $18/hr
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the primary contact for community members seeking resources and support services
- Conduct thorough needs assessments through inbound calls and collaborative problem-solving
- Connect callers with appropriate community resources, programs, and services
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and de-escalation support when needed
- Maintain accurate documentation in contact center software systems
- Follow up on referrals and cases as required
- Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance programs
- Handle difficult or emotionally charged situations with professionalism and empathy
- Respect client confidentiality and adhere to all organizational guidelines
What You'll Bring:
- High School diploma/GED required; Associate's degree in health/human services preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in health & human services, social services, or related field
- Prior Information & Referral experience strongly preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong computer proficiency and ability to navigate multiple software systems
- Ability to remain calm and productive under pressure in fast-paced environments
- Non-judgmental attitude with strong empathy and active listening skills
- Excellent assessment and critical thinking abilities
- Must pass Level 2 background check and pre-employment drug screening
