This is a vital Project Manager role focused on coordinating and completing hydrogeological projects related to water quality, environmental permits, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate possesses specialized knowledge in hydrology, geology, or geological engineering, coupled with project coordination and strong analytical skills. You will ensure the proper review and evaluation of projects impacting groundwater across the state.
Key Responsibilities (Daily Duties)
- Project Coordination & Review: Coordinate and complete complex hydrogeological project evaluations, focusing on reviews for land application and groundwater monitoring sites for NPDES permits.
- Permit Compliance: Review new projects for potential impact on groundwater and review closure plans for terminated permits.
- Technical Analysis: Use available information technology applications and tools, such as the ePermitting system, to conduct project feasibility reviews of historical and background monitoring data.
- Documentation & Communication: Provide written review comments and recommendations to Permit Engineers and initiate complex groundwater monitoring project plans using policy and guidance.
- Data Management: Maintain groundwater data collection and storage systems, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of environmental monitoring records.
- Cross-Agency Collaboration: Coordinate tasks with enforcement and permitting personnel as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Hydrology, Geology, or Geological Engineering and 1 year of related experience; OR Bachelor's degree in one of these fields and 2 years of related experience.
- Expertise and completion of Power User training with ePermitting or an equivalent electronic government permitting application.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
Preferred Skills
- At least 5 years of experience performing hydrogeological reviews and evaluations for land application and groundwater monitoring sites.
- At least 5 years of experience managing databases and using geospatial software.
- At least 5 years of experience with groundwater hydrogeology, geochemistry, contaminant transport, and hydrogeologic investigation techniques.
- Expertise in managing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of numerous concurrent projects.
