Accountant

Accountant is primarily responsible for: Monitoring assigned GL accounts and related journal entries and account reconciliations; Maintaining compliance with local, state and federal taxing authorities on behalf of the company; and maintaining accuracy in the product price files and coordinating same with customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Monitor assigned GL accounts, prepare journal entries and account reconciliations on a monthly basis

· Maintain fixed asset system for additions, disposals, monthly depreciation and annual activity for various audits

· Prepare and submit tax flings and returns to jurisdictions on local and state and federal levels

· Maintain tax calendar, create on-line payments or payment requests to ensure timely payments to avoid penalties

· Review assessments against current regulations for accuracy and possible savings, contest assessments where possible.

· Maintain price files for long term agreements, periodic price changes and promotional periods

· Review debit memos against price list for accuracy, communicate with Accounts Receivable in a timely manner to approve or deny with appropriate supporting information

· Strong knowledge of MS Excel and Word

· Responsible for processing payroll on an as-needed basis.

· Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning safety and employment.

· Follow all safety requirements per company policies and Cal-OSHA regulations.

· Follow ISO and all other applicable procedures and company policies.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Working knowledge of ERP systems and JD Edwards
• Experience working with taxing authorities and government agencies.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting or Finance.
• 5 or more years of accounting experience
