What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Paraeducator, Special Needs position at Apple Valley Unified School District?

As a substitute employee, you are an "At-Will" employee. This means that your employment is temporary, intermittent or sporadic and does not provide an avenue to permanent employment. There will be mandatory testing for this position. **PLEASE READ CAREFULLY, EVERYTHING LISTED BELOW IS REQUIRED TO APPLY**
REQUIRED ON APPLICATION:
1. Completed Edjoin Application - ALL FIELDS COMPLETED - incomplete applications will be automatically disqualified (including the Employment History section - if no job history, please list volunteer work in this section)
2. Graduation from High School or Equivalent
3. Supplemental coursework or experience in remedial education and behavioral modification techniques and one (1) year of experience in working in a special education program or remedial academic program OR Any combination of education, training, and/or experience which demonstrates ability to perform the essential duties may be substituted for the required experience and/or education. (MUST show on application in education/job history - incl. volunteer work if no job history can be provided)

REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS:
1. Typing test: adjusted/net 25 wpm minimum (3-5 minute test-results must show name, adjusted/net results, & length of test on certificate-Online okay).
2. Valid ADULT/PEDIATRIC First Aid and CPR Certification required: NO online courses; NO BLS (basic life support) cards, MUST include Pediatric (Child) training*
*can upload proof of registration (i.e. a receipt or confirmation email) in an upcoming, in-person CPR/First Aid class in lieu of card
Preferred Qualifications
1. Associates Degree preferred
2. Copies of transcripts (if substituting education for experience - only relevant courses will apply).
