What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Staff Development position at Apple Valley Care Center?
Plans and implements in –service programs on an on-going basis as required by state and federal regulations.Identifies needs and recommends in-service programs to improve resident care and facility policies.Provides orientation for all new employees as required.Accurately informs employees of established facility policy and procedures.Evaluates employee compliance with policies and procedures.Maintains accurate and up to date records of orientation and in-service programs.Responsible for making daily rounds.Coordinates CNA staffing, evaluations and discipline.Contributes to the development of policies and procedures.Member of safety committee and reports on all employee incidents. Is first responder.Assists in Restorative Nursing training.Screen CNA applications, arranges interviews and hires CNA staff as needed.Attends all meetings as assigned by DON and/or Administrator.Responsible for issuing back supports. And gait belts.Orders and administers Hepatitis B vaccinations.Administers PPD’s and schedules physicals upon hire and annually for all employees.Other duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or DON.Covering shifts on the floor if needed.Requirements for DSDPossesses a valid and current Staff Development Certification.1-2 years experience in long term care preferred.Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills.Good physical and mental health.Is capable of following oral and written instructions.Training, knowledge and experience which allows for general supervision of responsibilities.Possesses good organizational skills.
