Role Description This is a full-time Mental Health Counselor role in a hybrid work setting, based in Woodbridge, VA, with some work-from-home flexibility. The counselor will provide individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, using developmentally appropriate and evidence-based interventions. Daily responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, and coordinating care with families, schools, and other providers as needed. The role involves using modalities such as CBT, trauma-focused interventions, play therapy, or creative/expressive approaches aligned with client needs and practice guidelines. The counselor will also participate in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development to ensure high-quality, ethical care.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mental Health and Psychology, with the ability to apply clinical knowledge to diverse child, adolescent, and adult populations.
- Demonstrated skills in Treatment Planning and Case Management, including assessment, goal setting, progress monitoring, and coordination of services.
- Experience or training in Relationship Counseling, family systems, and working with caregivers to support children and adolescents.
- Current license or license-eligible status in Virginia (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent); supervised residents are welcome where permitted.
- Experience providing trauma-informed care and using evidence-based modalities including any expressive arts interventions.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills; ability to manage a caseload and maintain professional boundaries.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment, providing in-person services in Woodbridge, VA and telehealth sessions from home as appropriate.
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related mental health field; commitment to ongoing learning and cultural humility.
