Job Description
TEMP POSITION
Full Time - 40 hours per week
Plans, organizes and directs the provision of housekeeping services. Ensures the facility is safe and secure while fostering TQM and striving to attain the facility’s mission statement.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
- Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Must be knowledgeable of sanitation and infection control practices/procedures.
- Must be innovative and able to find creative ways to service the variety of residents’ needs and maintain the customer focus.
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
Essential Job Functions (With or Without Reasonable Accommodation):
Administrative Functions:
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the Housekeeping Services Department, its programs and activities within budget and quality standards. Ensures that all written policies and procedures are adhered to, maintained and updated. Coordinates and cooperates with all other supervisors and affected personnel regarding housekeeping operations to insure minimum disruption of operations. Cooperates with staff in response to emergency needs.
Housekeeping Functions:
Within budget guidelines, plans for needed supplies and equipment to maintain quality cleanliness standards. Monitors the activities of assigned staff insuring the facility is cleaned on a scheduled basis to maintain high standards and appearance. May be required to perform daily housekeeping functions in absence to staff.
Personnel Functions:
For the entire Housekeeping Department, develops the organizational structure and staffing. Responsible for the department personnel function in hiring qualified staff, orientation, and ensuring adequate staffing levels. Provides direction, guidance, counsel, disciplinary actions as necessary to ensure staff are performing duties in accordance with facility policies. Reviews all salary recommendations. Reviews personnel complaints and grievances and ensures all personnel are treated fairly and consistently with policies. Plans works schedules to insure efficient delivery of housekeeping services. Modifies these schedules as required to meet changing circumstances or emergency situations.
Residents’ Rights Functions:
Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy. Knows and complies with the Residents’ Bill of Rights. Reports all grievances and resident complaints to the DNS or Administrator immediately. Foster feelings of self worth and respect by treating residents with kindness and understanding and ensures all personnel do same.
Safety and Sanitation Functions:
Ensures the facility is safe by assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety standards and programs to meet all regulatory requirements as well as corporate policies and procedures. Monitors and ensures that housekeeping personnel understand and follow facility policies and procedures, Universal Precautions, established safety rules, company procedures for reporting accidents/incidents as well as hazardous conditions/equipment, infection control procedures and fire and disaster plans. Ensures cleanliness of work areas. Ensures all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with safety standards. Maintains appropriate MSDS sheets.
Physical and Sensory Requirement:
- Ability to read and write in English in a legible and understandable manner.
- Ability to walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, pull, stretch, stoop, and fine hand coordination.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items.
- Ability to visually assess all aspects of housekeeping services.
- Ability to hear and respond to pages.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take appropriate action.
