What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Design FEA Engineer position at Apple, Inc.?
Imagine what you can do here! We are committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and engineering excellence in product designs through simulation. We truly believe in the power of predictive simulation to make the impossible possible and improve people's lives. As a member of the Product Design FEA team, you will use your understanding of mechanics, materials, and numerical methods to play a pivotal role in predictive engineering and directly impact the success of new iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, Vision Pro, and many more future products. Come join us and put a dent in the universe!
As the cornerstone between material science and mechanical engineering, you will design experiments to characterize materials, advance mathematical descriptions and simulation workflows, and validate them at various scales to deploy to the company-wide FEA community. Be a communication channel with suppliers and vendors to explore new technologies and simulation methods. You will be fully integrated with the product design team from the earliest stages to support ground-breaking products. Interpret the system-level FEA results and compare them with highly instrumented tests to close identified gaps through the bottom-up approach.
Strong knowledge of solid mechanics.\nExperience in constitutive modeling.\nExperience in implicit and explicit finite element analysis (FEA).\nAttention to detail and commitment to verification/validation.\nDesire to work in a fast-paced environment with a passion for creating cutting-edge products.\nM.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Material Science, or a similar discipline required along with 3 years of relevant experience.
Expertise in constitutive modeling and large deformation theory.\nExperience in polymer testing and modeling.\nExperience with Abaqus, ANSYS, and META.\nSelf-motivated to identify areas for improvement and drive innovation.\nExcellent cross-functional collaboration and written and verbal communication.\nPh.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Material Science, or a similar discipline.
