Apple Harvest Bakery and Catering is dedicated to crafting beautiful, high-quality baked goods. We are seeking a talented and experienced Baker & Decorator to join our production team. This is a crucial role for a candidate passionate about both the technical precision of baking and the artistic demands of high-level decorating, particularly custom cakes and visually stunning pastries.
Key Responsibilities:
I. Baking & Production
- Dough and Batter Preparation: Accurately mix, divide, shape, and proof various doughs and batters according to established recipes and production schedules.
- Baking Excellence: Operate industrial ovens, monitoring temperature and timing to ensure consistent quality, color, and texture of all baked goods (breads, cakes, cookies, pastries, etc.).
- Recipe Adherence: Maintain strict consistency and quality control in all products; identify and troubleshoot issues with ingredients or equipment during the baking process.
- Inventory & Ordering: Assist in managing raw material inventory and communicating needs for ordering baking ingredients.
II. Decoration & Finishing
- Artistic Finishing: Execute high-level decorating techniques for a range of products, including detailed piping, fondant work, glazing, and intricate finishing of pastries.
- Custom Cake Design: Lead the design, preparation, and decorating of complex custom and tiered cakes, meeting customer specifications and maintaining brand aesthetic.
- Display Presentation: Ensure all finished goods are visually appealing and strategically arranged in the display cases to maximize sales.
- Color and Flavor Pairing: Develop and create new seasonal decorative concepts and flavor profiles for display items.
III. Quality & Safety
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations (HACCP/ServSafe standards).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the entire prep and production area.
Qualifications:
- Minimum [1] years of professional experience in a commercial bakery setting.
- Proven expertise in advanced cake and pastry decorating techniques (portfolio/samples may be required).
- Strong knowledge of baking science, including ingredient functionality and process control.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict production deadlines.
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
