What are the responsibilities and job description for the Short-term QA Tester (Italian bilingual) position at Applause?
Applause is leading the app quality revolution by enabling companies to deliver digital experiences that win – from web to mobile to wearables and beyond. At this time, we are looking for a QA Tester for Virtual Assistant devices with an emphasis on voice enabled technology and Italian utterances. You'll be embedded with a QA team at the client offices in Sunnyvale and San Jose, CA to test for functionality, performance, and user experience meet industry standards.
Basic terms:
- Type: 1099 Contractor
- Term: Short term, 2-months
- Days/hours: Monday to Friday during standard business hours
- Capacity: Up to 40 hours per week
- Location: In-office ONLY, San Jose, Sunnyvale, CA addresses to be provided
- Start date: May 26, 2026
- Payrate range: $50 USD per hour
- Language required: Italian (conversational to native fluency); English (professional proficiency)
Key Responsibilities
- Create/review test plans
- Create/review test cases
- Perform manual test execution
- Verify and validate, debug, reproduce issues, capture logs, file and track JIRAs/defects
- Generate test reports and share status to ensure high product quality is maintained
- Perform human level assessment of de-DE LLM responses for accuracy/chattiness when compared with English.
Qualifications
- Language(s): Ideally Italian-English bilingual but at a minimum, to fluently perform Italian utterances with voice-enabled devices/technology; read and translate Italian audio/text to English and vice versa.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 1 years of experience in software QA testing; fluent using Siri, Alexa, Google Voice, etc. voice-enabled devices
- Tools: Experience with bug tracking tools (JIRA)
Preferred Qualifications
- QA testing experience with in-vehicle infotainment systems or consumer electronics.
- Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
- Strong debugging skills and capability to troubleshoot complex, integrated systems.
