Overview

The Community Health Support Professional is a vital member of the Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH)

Community Health Screening Team. This role is essential for coordinating and supporting mobile clinic visits to

underserved areas of Central Appalachia. The successful candidate will work closely with healthcare providers,

patients, and community stakeholders. Responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating mobile clinic visits,

maintaining the mobile clinic’s operational readiness, driving the mobile clinic (no CDL required), and assisting

medical professionals during health screenings at community events. This position offers a unique opportunity

to enhance healthcare access for rural populations in Eastern Kentucky and Southern West Virginia.

Responsibilities

· Mobile Clinic Scheduling & Coordination:

o Schedule and coordinate mobile clinic visits across various communities in Central Appalachia,

ensuring that each event is organized and well-planned.

o Communicate with local community leaders, schools, businesses, and other organizations to arrange

screening events and secure locations for the mobile clinic.

o Coordinate the logistics of the mobile clinic, ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and staff are

available for each event.

o Track and manage patient appointment schedules and confirm appointments with patients prior to

scheduled visits.

o Maintain a calendar of scheduled events, ensuring that all logistical details are up-to-date.

· Mobile Clinic Support & Maintenance:

o Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the mobile clinic, ensuring that it is stocked with necessary

medical supplies, equipment, and materials.

o Conduct routine checks of the mobile clinic’s interior and exterior, ensuring it is clean, organized, and ready for use. o Work with medical staff to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and any technical issues are addressed promptly. o Perform minor repairs and troubleshooting of the mobile clinic as needed (or coordinate with maintenance staff for more complex issues).

· Driving the Mobile Clinic:

o Drive the mobile clinic to various community events, ensuring safe transport and timely arrival at scheduled locations. (No CDL required; valid driver’s license and clean driving record are necessary).

o Ensure that the mobile clinic is properly parked, set up, and ready for medical staff upon arrival at each location.

· Event Support & Medical Assistance:

o Assist medical professionals during health screenings by preparing patients, assisting with patient flow, and supporting the collection of health data.

o Provide general administrative support at health screening events, including assisting patients with paperwork, helping with registration, and ensuring patient confidentiality. o Support patient education efforts by providing information on health screenings, available resources, and follow-up care.

·Community Engagement & Outreach:

o Act as a liaison between ARH and community members, promoting health education and outreach initiatives.

o Foster positive relationships with local community organizations and stakeholders, ensuring strong partnerships for future mobile clinic visits and health programs.

o Help with outreach and promotion of screening events through local media, flyers, and community announcements.

Qualifications

Education

· High School diploma or equivalent required; some post-secondary education in healthcare, public health, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

· At least one year of experience in healthcare, community outreach, or customer service is preferred.

· Experience with healthcare scheduling, logistics, or coordination is a plus.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in dynamic environments.

· Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling patient information.

· Basic knowledge of medical terminology or healthcare practices is a plus.
