Overview
The Physician Office Assistant performs basic medical procedures to assist physician in evaluation and treatment of patients.
Responsibilities
Prepare patient for examination and treatment. Take vital signs, height, weight, etc
May assist in minor surgery: clean and prep op-site. Set up sterile trays and assist in sterile procedures. Sterilize and wrap surgical instruments.
Obtain lab specimens, perform routine lab procedures, and operate lab equipment (autoclave, microscope centrifuge, and hemogloinometer)
Perform EKG’s and basic Arrhythmia recognition
Change sterile dressings, remove sutures and skin clips.
Administer injections,
General office bookkeeping, coding and filing insurance claims.
Practice Universal precautions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma and Graduate of Medical Assistant Training Program.Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute accurately.Three (3) to six (6) months on-the-job training as required to attain proficiency of assigned duties and/orresponsibilities.
