Responsibilities:
- Maintain safety and security within the juvenile correctional facility
- Supervise and monitor the behavior and activities of juvenile offenders
- Implement and enforce rules and regulations to ensure a structured environment
- Conduct searches of individuals, cells, and common areas for contraband
- Respond to emergencies and incidents, including fights or disturbances
- Document incidents, write reports, and maintain accurate records
- Provide counseling and support to juveniles to promote positive behavior
- Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Facilitate group activities and educational programs for rehabilitation purposes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred
- Certificate in corrections or related field is a plus
- Previous experience in social work, conflict management, or law enforcement is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with juveniles from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviors
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques and case management principles
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other professionals
- Physical fitness and the ability to restrain individuals if necessary
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
