Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed
- Operate and manage electronic health records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic
- Take and develop dental X-rays while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols
- Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in patient records
- Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort
- Maintain sterilization standards and infection control procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines
- Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care
- Manage appointment scheduling as a dental receptionist when needed
- Assist with medical imaging procedures including 3D scanning when applicable
- Ensure all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations and accurately reflects treatment provided
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting
- Proficiency with Dentrix
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely and effectively; certification preferred
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry and medical imaging techniques including 3D scanners
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
