Position Overview
The ideal candidate will bring 3–4 years of accounting experience—preferably within an accounting firm or business-services environment—and will be responsible for performing comprehensive monthly accounting functions for a diverse portfolio of clients.
Educational Background
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Master's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- Active Tennessee CPA License preferred
Professional Experience
- Managing full-cycle accounting for 5 to 6 clients per month, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Recording financial transactions, posting entries, and maintaining a complete, organized set of business records
- Preparing, self-reviewing, and finalizing financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
- Performing bank reconciliations, as well as reconciling sales tax, payroll tax, and 401(k) accounts
- Completing adjusting journal entries to ensure accuracy and alignment with supporting documentation
- Processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, payroll, and ad hoc checks with precision and confidentiality
- Utilizing QuickBooks Online for day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll processing, and financial reporting
- Monitoring financial activity and producing timely, accurate reports for internal review and client delivery
- Collaborating effectively with other accountants and business professionals to support client needs and resolve discrepancies
- Communicating proactively with clients regarding required documentation and deadlines to ensure smooth monthly bookkeeping workflows
- Reporting to the Direct Supervisor and providing complete, accurate workpapers and financial packages for review
- Upholding professional standards when interacting with clients, vendors, and internal teams while protecting sensitive information

Key Responsibilities
- Record financial transactions and complete the posting process
- Manage accounting responsibilities for 5 to 6 clients per month
- Reconcile sales taxes, payroll taxes, 401(k), and bank accounts at the end of each month
- Monitor financial transactions and reports
- Enter adjusting journal entries with supporting documentation
- Prepare financial statements and balance sheets for assigned clients
- Process accounts receivable and payable
- Process vendor payments, payroll, and other ad hoc checks
- Maintain and understand general and subsidiary ledgers
- Work collaboratively with a team of accountants and business professionals
- Maintain a complete and systematic record of business transactions
- Report to the Accounting Manager and provide all reports for review
- Inform clients of required paperwork and documentation needed to complete monthly bookkeeping requirements
- Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year university required
- Master's degree and/or active Tennessee CPA license preferred
- Professional demeanor when interacting with clients, vendors, employees, and other external parties
- Minimum 3–4 years of accounting experience, preferably within a business-services environment
- Ability to prepare, review, and understand financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online accounting software
- Familiarity with Tennessee and federal tax reporting requirements preferred
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience managing business records and accounting functions
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
