Apollo Technical is seeking a versatile and driven Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic team in the Austin, TX area. This hybrid role combines mechanical design, hands-on assembly, and field service support for cutting-edge automation and coil winding machinery.
You will act as a key technical liaison between customers and our engineering teams in both the USA and Italy.
This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level to mid-career engineer (0–5 years of experience) who thrives on a mix of independent problem-solving, hands-on mechanical work, and international collaboration.
Principal Assignments & Responsibilities
- Design & Documentation: Assist in the 3D mechanical design and 2D detailing of machinery; develop comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
- Assembly & Testing: Perform precision mechanical and machine assembly functions working within tight tolerances.
- Field Service & Installation: Travel to customer sites to install new machinery, guide clients through acceptance testing, and provide on-site troubleshooting for issues that cannot be resolved remotely.
- Remote Support: Answer customer service calls, connect remotely to machinery to diagnose issues, and provide technical solutions.
- International Coordination: Travel to Europe to run machine acceptance tests, ensuring equipment meets client specifications. Collaborate closely with US and Italian engineering departments to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Spare Parts & Logistics: Assist in identifying, documenting, and shipping required spare parts.
- Project Tracking: Rigorously document, monitor, and close out open technical issues for machinery in the field.
Role Requirements
Education & Languages
- Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
- Languages: Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal) is required. Italian language skills are a strong plus.
Experience & Technical Skills
- Experience: 0–5 years of experience as a Service Engineer, ideally within the Automotive Industry or working with industrial automation.
- Design Software: Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CoCreate, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Core Engineering: Strong, practical knowledge of fluid power (pneumatics and hydraulics) and the ability to read electrical diagrams.
- Hands-on Aptitude: Familiarity with conventional shop machinery (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) and solid mechanical concepts related to robotics and automation.
- Advanced Technical Skills (Preferred Pluses):
- Knowledge of Coil Winding and specialized Automation Machinery.
- Experience programming Cartesian coordinate systems in CNC/numerical control machines.
- Familiarity with Co-Op programs involving robotics or industrial machinery.

- Travel: Willingness to travel extensively (at least 50%) across the US, Mexico, Canada, and occasionally Europe.
- Documentation: Must possess a valid Passport and Visa (or be eligible to obtain them) for international travel.
Salary : $68,000 - $70,000
