Responsibilities
- Analyzing blueprints to determine wire lengths as well as suitable outlet placement based on electrical codes.
- Determining the amount, type, and cost of materials and fixtures needed for each electrical project.
- Determining the amount of labor required to complete each project.
- Determining the potential profitability of electrical projects to assist management in making sound bidding decisions.
- Regularly updating cost databases to accurately reflect fluctuating material and labor costs.
- Evaluating labor and material costs to determine whether it is more feasible to construct electrical components or sub-contract the construction of components.
- Identifying and building up cost estimates by analyzing the materials and labor needed to complete several projects
- Examining and explaining the cost of wasted materials and possible delays in a project, and suggesting recommendations or coming up with solutions to fix these issues
- Identifying and knowing the risks involved in the projects, creating production schedules, and so on
- Efficiently preparing work and guidelines, and creating designs for distribution systems and new clients or customers
- Liaising and communicating effectively with customers, and recommending appropriate locations, wire, transformer sizes, and so on
- Reviewing residential, industrial, and commercial building plans in order to determine the electrical needs of a project
- Reviewing supplier costs in order to determine how much each individual element costs, and negotiating with suppliers in order to bargain the best prices
- Maintaining cost of databases and outlining common costs in order to save time on future estimates
- Effective communication skills
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to interpret blueprints
- Highly organized; solid time management abilities
- Detail oriented
- Experience in the Commercial Electrical field
- Valid driver's license (for travel to jobsites if needed)
- Certification through ASPE or AACE is advantageous
