What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apogee North Texas Guide/Teacher position at Apogee North Texas?
Apogee North Texas is hiring a Montessori-inspired Guide to lead our Explorer Studio for ages 5-7 in a hybrid, parent-partnered microschool environment.
This role is for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children, understands what’s happening beneath the surface at this age, and knows how to create an environment that is calm, welcoming, structured, and full of purpose. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Montessori philosophy, early childhood development, and social-emotional learning, along with a steady presence that helps children feel safe enough to grow.
At Apogee North Texas, we believe children are capable of far more than most modern classrooms give them credit for. Our school emphasizes independence, character, responsibility, and genuine growth. We combine Montessori-inspired principles with movement, outdoor activities, project-based learning, and strong parent partnerships to raise confident, capable, and self-governing young people.
The person in this role will lead a mixed-age group of learners ages 5-7 and help set the tone of the studio each day. This includes creating a thoughtfully prepared environment, guiding child-led work, supporting early literacy and math through hands-on activities, and helping children navigate emotions, conflicts, and relationships with increasing maturity and confidence.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and a genuine appreciation for this developmental stage. They will understand that independence develops over time, not through demands. They will see behavior as communication, value grace and courtesy, and know how to respond to big emotions without turning every difficult moment into a power struggle.
Montessori certification is highly valued, as is experience in a Montessori, microschool, or homeschool hybrid setting. Experience with mixed-age learners and a background in early childhood or elementary education are also significant advantages.
Equally important, the right person will seek a setting different from a traditional classroom. This is not a test-prep environment. It is not screen-heavy. It’s not designed around managing children into compliance. Instead, it focuses on helping young learners become more capable, responsible, and confident in who they are becoming.
The schedule runs from Tuesday through Thursday, approximately 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, with occasional events or planning time as needed. Compensation ranges from $20 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.
If you are an educator who believes children deserve warmth and high standards, freedom and structure, patience and clear expectations, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your resume along with a brief note about your background and why this role feels like the right fit.
