Director, Business Applications & Delivery

Apnimed
Cambridge, MA Full Time
POSTED ON 10/10/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/8/2026

Apnimed is a rapidly growing pharmaceutical company working to transform the treatment of sleep apnea based on a simple idea – patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) could benefit from treatment with a safe and effective oral medication dosed once daily at bedtime. Our lead development program, AD109, targets the neurologic control of upper airway muscles to maintain an open airway during sleep. Based in Cambridge, MA, Apnimed is committed to innovation, as well as state-of-the-art advancements in sleep medicine, which is leading to the development of a portfolio of novel pharmacologic therapies for sleep apnea and related disorders. Of note, the Boston Business Journal has also voted Apnimed as one of the Best Places to Work in 2024 and 2025!

Summary:

The Director, Business Applications & Delivery reports to the Senior Director, Information Technology and is responsible for Apnimed’s enterprise applications portfolio and for the delivery organization that implements, validates and supports it — business analysts, delivery managers and business systems administration, with the IT project management office inside it. The successful candidate will also play a key role in sequencing and landing the systems that stand behind the AD109 launch (PDUFA 28 February 2027; first commercial sale planned for 3 May 2027), including the systems and onboarding for an Apnimed-employed field force. This is an exciting opportunity to build the applications and delivery function of a newly public company at the center of a major paradigm shift in the treatment of sleep apnea from medical devices and surgery to a first-in-class pharmaceutical treatment.

Key Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the Business Applications & Delivery pillar — business analysts, delivery managers and business systems administration — and run the IT project management office: intake, prioritization, sequencing, cutover and adoption across commercial, medical and corporate systems.
  • Own the enterprise applications portfolio and roadmap. The launch portfolio today is 43 business capabilities delivered by 55 systems and 7 licensed data feeds, 13 of the systems GxP-regulated, stood up through a mix of Apnimed builds, commercialization-partner deployments and third-party vendors.
  • Direct delivery through launch: the Veeva estate (CRM, Align, PromoMats and MedComms) and the corporate systems going live in Q4 2026 and the first half of 2027, among them ADP, Concur, the Dropbox-to-SharePoint migration, OneTrust and contract lifecycle management, each with a requirement, an integration, user acceptance and a cutover that this role sequences.
  • Own validation and release management for GxP systems under Apnimed’s computer system validation SOP, where validation deliverables are approved by Apnimed IT, the business owner and Quality Assurance. Manage the release cadence — Veeva alone ships three releases a year, each triggering revalidation — in partnership with Apnimed’s validation services partner.
  • Hold named IT general control ownership for change management and the system development lifecycle in Apnimed’s SOX 404 control environment, and produce the evidence external auditors rely on.
  • Manage delivery partners and system integrators — the commercialization partner, the program management and business systems analysis partner, and the data foundation partner — including statement-of-work scoping, acceptance and the planned conversion of contracted delivery roles to Apnimed employees during 2027.
  • Plan and deliver the technology readiness for an Apnimed-employed field force of roughly 240 people starting in a two-week window in March 2027: CRM, expense, device provisioning and onboarding, in coordination with IT Operations, HR and Commercial.
  • Build and develop the team — hire, coach and manage managers — and partner with the Senior Director, IT Security and the Associate Director, IT Operations as part of the IT leadership team, and with business owners in Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Quality, Finance, HR and Legal.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or a life science, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree a plus.
  • 10-12 years in enterprise applications and delivery, including 5 years leading teams and at least one period managing managers.
  • Has led an applications and delivery organization in a regulated (GxP, 21 CFR Part 11) life sciences company through a product launch or major transformation. This is a requirement, not a preference.

Skills:

  • Has run a project management office and owned an enterprise applications portfolio with accountability for delivery outcomes, not only for project status.
  • Pharmaceutical commercial and medical systems — the Veeva estate in particular — and the commercialization-partner operating model common to first launches.
  • Computer system validation (GAMP 5) and IT general controls in a public company, with experience producing audit evidence.
  • Vendor and system integrator management: scoping statements of work, holding partners to acceptance criteria and transitioning scope in-house.
  • Executive communication and cross-functional influence with business owners who are themselves under launch pressure.
  • PMP, SAFe or equivalent delivery certification is a plus; Veeva certification is a plus.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous priorities and changing deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams); experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional.
