System Administrator

Position Overview

Seeking a highly experienced System Administrator (SA) to support mission-critical systems for a Federal customer at Fort Meade, Maryland. The SA is responsible for managing and maintaining complex mission systems in support of federal operations. This role involves configuring, troubleshooting, and securing systems across multiple environments, ensuring high availability and compliance with federal cybersecurity standards. The ideal candidate will also bring advanced expertise in container technologies, clustered storage, and configuration management tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows/Linux) and applications.
• Administer large-scale software deployments on LINUX/UNIX systems.
• Manage system backups, patching, and updates.
• Monitor system performance and availability.
• Administer clustered storage solutions (e.g., storage appliances, Ceph).

• Implement and enforce security policies and procedures.
• Support RMF documentation and compliance efforts.
• Respond to security incidents and conduct forensic analysis.

• Provide Tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of complex technical issues.
• Collaborate with network engineers, ISSOs, and developers.
• Maintain system documentation and SOPs.

• Develop scripts and tools to automate routine tasks.
• Optimize system configurations for performance and reliability.
• Utilize system configuration management software (e.g., Puppet, Ansible).
• Support change control processes and documentation.

• Administer Kubernetes-orchestrated container environments.
• Ensure containerized applications are deployed securely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot and optimize container performance and scalability.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: 7 years of system administration in secure environments.
• Proven experience with container technologies, clustered storage, and configuration management tools.
