Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS
General Skills and Work Setting Requirements: Overflow IMCU; Arrhythmia management; Cardioversion, Cardiac CHF, Chest pain, Renal, Pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema) PE, DVT Cardiac Arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia) Surgical (cholecystectomy, appy's, chest tubes, biliary drains) Occasional vascular patients, Post Cardiac Cath, TR Bands, DKA. Occasional Ortho or CVA patient overflow- These patients are transferred as soon as possible to appropriate unit; TR Bands, EXP with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring and care of pts post PCI is a must as well as EVERYTHING under the MEd/Surg umbrella, Basic arrhythmia knowledge, Cardiac Drip knowledge: amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex and lasix
Ratio / Census: 1:5-6; 32 beds
Unit Systems: Epic (Preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
Scrub Color: Navy Blue
RTO: MAX 7 days
Weekends: Every other weekend unless specified elsewhere
Floating: Yes, within the facility/scope of practice as needed
Call Requirements: Call is rare, response time is 2 hours. Travelers typically do not get Precedex, this is for core staff to manage
Holidays: If one major holiday falls in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work both of the holidays. If three major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of the holidays.
