What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Special Education Teacher position at Aplington-Parkersburg Middle School?
The Aplington-Parkersburg Middle School (grades 3rd-8th) is located in Aplington, 30 minutes from the Cedar Valley, and is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered special education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year for our students in grades 6th-8th.
The Aplington-Parkersburg Middle School serves 180 students.
The successful candidate will work in a team-based environment to support students and families in their quest to become the best version of themselves.
Position Summary:
The teacher candidate will teach a wide variety of subjects, including reading, English, and math. The candidate will collaborate with general education teachers and para-educators and assist with special education scheduling. Candidates will also be expected to complete IEPs and have a familiarity with Achieve. The candidate will be an advisory teacher (APPLE).
Required:
- Candidates must hold a current State of Iowa Teaching License. https://boee.iowa.gov
- This position does require one of the following endorsements:
- Instructional Strategist (Mild / Moderate): #260 (K-8), #261 (5-12)
- Strategist 2 #263 / #264
