Position: Security Supervisor

Abraxas Academy is located minutes off of Exit 298 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Berks County and provides detention and treatment services for court committed youth.

Shift: Varied Shifts including weekends
Minimum Education / Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in human services field and one (1) year work experience in residential treatment (preferred) ORAssociate’s degree or 60 college credit hours from an accredited college/university and three (3) years’ work experience with children.
Supervisory experience also preferred.
Ability to self-start, work independently and adhere to timelines on a consistent basis with a minimum of assistance and supervision.
At least 21 years of age
Pre-employment background checks (Criminal, Federal, State, Child Abuse), physical exam, and drug screen
Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
Ability to work non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends to meet clients and family’s needs.

Security Supervisor Summary: Responsible for the overall operations of the central control room at one or more location residential locations
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB AND ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
Supervises the monitoring of security cameras, alarms, and other surveillance systems to ensure the safety and security of the facility.
Coordinates with supervisors, staff, and other relevant personnel through communication systems to respond to incidents or emergencies.
Manages access control systems to regulate movement within the building, ensuring only authorized individuals enter specific areas.
Develops and implement emergency response protocols and procedures, and guiding staff during critical situations.
Oversees the maintenance and functionality of security technology, including control panels, communication devices, and surveillance equipment.
Maintains detailed logs and records of activities in the central control room, documenting incidents, responses, and any irregularities
Provides training to control staff on procedures, equipment usage, and emergency response protocols.
Ensures facility policies and procedures related to security and control are consistently followed by central control staff.
Collaborates with other managers, administrators, and department heads to ensure cohesive and effective overall facility operations
Directly supervises control staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and addressing any disciplinary matters.
Monitors the outer perimeter using cameras, sensors, and other surveillance equipment to detect any unauthorized activity or security breaches.
Conducts regular patrols along the exterior of the facility to visually inspect fences, gates, and other barriers for signs of damage or attempted breaches.
Manages and controls access points to the facility grounds, ensuring that only authorized personnel and vehicles enter and exit the facility.
Inspects and maintains perimeter fencing to prevent escapes and enhance overall security.
Responds promptly to alarms, investigating the cause, and taking appropriate action.
Maintains employee schedules that provide adequate coverage to ensure safety for both clients and employees.
Develops and implement systems to organize and monitor work activities.
Structures, implement, and facilitate new employee on-the-job orientation.
Conducts effective supervisory conferences and performance evaluations with employees, documents the content of such meetings and evaluations, and provides feedback to them.
Schedules employee training to ensure that all mandatory training requirements are met.
Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and provides effective supervision to staff regarding the use of SCM.
Other Responsibilities:
Assists the Executive Director as needed
Attends staff meetings and conferences
Supports the Youth Services’ philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care
