What You'll Do
As a Peer Support Specialist, you will provide recovery-focused peer support services to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. Drawing from your lived experience, you will help individuals build hope, resilience, independence, and meaningful connections within their communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide peer support services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions.
- Utilize lived experience to promote recovery, resilience, hope, and self-determination.
- Assist individuals in developing coping skills, wellness strategies, and recovery goals.
- Facilitate peer-led recovery groups and support activities.
- Support individuals in achieving goals related to housing, employment, education, and community integration.
- Assist in the development and implementation of person-centered treatment and recovery plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Advocate for individuals receiving services and support self-advocacy efforts.
- Help individuals prepare for treatment and recovery planning meetings.
- Promote recovery-oriented practices and peer support principles among team members.
- Engage individuals through outreach, relationship building, and ongoing support.
- Provide crisis intervention and support services as assigned.
- Assist with assessments, wellness plans, and other recovery-related documentation.
- Support the development of natural supports and community resources.
- Encourage independence, personal growth, and self-determination.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Complete timesheets and required records accurately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders.
- Valid driver's license with a minimum of three years of continuous driving experience and a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience working with underserved populations.
Schedule
- Full-Time
- Schedule based on program needs
- Flexibility to support individuals and participate in team activities as required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist individuals as needed.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
